First Day of School

Lindsi & Jami baking cookies for her new (& old) teachers

First Day of FIRST GRADE!!

We had Meet The Teacher day on Friday & the girls were wanting to make cookies, so I thought that would be a good place to deliver our end results. Lindsi AND Jami made M&M cookies. They actually did very well until the baking part & then they were off to play.

We packaged up cookies for last year's Kindergarten teacher, & our very favorite pre K teacher, & Lindsi's new teacher.

I wondered if the teacher's got together & compared notes about the students before the Meet & Greet Day, but I had my answer once we arrived. NOPE, they get their list that morning. To say that Lindsi's teacher was surprised that she had a deaf student would be an understatement, but she recovered well & I think / hope we will have a great year.

Unfortunately, Lindsi's best friend is not in her class. Almost all new students for her to meet this year. I did recognize three kids from her V-PK class. And, she has her interpreter who will look out for her best interest, so that is comforting. I was assured by all that the first day went well.

Then today, they cxl'd school because of "Fay". Tomorrow is also "Cancelled", but the storm ended up going far enough South of us that it has impacted us very little. We'll see later today if they reverse the Closing.

We are looking forward to a great school year.......

St Augustine Jami & Ava

Enjoy some photos of Jami with her "Rao" sister Ava. The girls are 3 months apart, both 3 this year. They were on the same Dec 2005 WC list put out by IAAP. Isn't it wonderful that these girls, with similar beginnings have the opportunity to know each other?

We were really excited to finally meet them after having been in contact for over 2 yrs. And, we were not disappointed.

St Augustine Weekend

To the beach again. Every year we go to St Augustine & meet up with about 3 or 4 other families that have children from the Fuzhou SWI (Lindsi's grp). One family we actually traveled to China with, so it is wonderful to see them every year. Well, this year, only 2 of the Fu families were going to make it. So, the other family invited families from their second daughter's SWI.

This year, there were 2 Fu families & about 4 more from the other SWI. As it turned out, one of those families also had a daughter from Jami's SWI. In fact, the girls were listed on the same WC list & we nearly traveled with them. It was so wonderful to finally get to meet them after being e mail friends for over 2 yrs.
(Pending permission, I'll post a pic of the girls together)...Can you say 2 peas in a pod????..YEP!

Anyways.....had a blast........
